Setting up and using email

If you have an email account hosted with us then we use a very secure and safe protocol for sending emails. Certain email clients like outlook are hard to configure and may not be able to offer the level of service needed. There are also some ISPs (internet Service Providers) who do not offer a great service and block certain things so read below and follow the steps and things should work fine.

If you have successfully sent emails in the past:

1. First of all check that the password you are using is the right one.
2. Check that none of your settings are wrong
3. Check that you have an active internet connection

Your ISP may be blocking SMTP

1. Some ISPs such as Mobile Phone networks (naming no names) block port 25 for the SMTP protocol. We have a backup port which you can use. Simply change the port on the Outgoing Server (SMTP) to port 9999 and this should fix the problem.

Your local Firewall

1. Firewalls block stuff from entering and leaving your network. In order for your mail to work properly you need to have port 25 (or 9999 - see above) allowed for outgoing connections. Also check that port 993 (SSL) is allowed for incoming/outgoing connections if you are not receiving mail.
